Description

As a child, charcoal was the medium that intimidated me most. Its bold, dark marks felt permanent, and I believed every line had to be exact from the very first stroke. It seemed unforgiving, leaving little room for error.

Over time, charcoal has become one of my favorite mediums. I love the strong contrasts it creates, and the way light and shadow emerge through blending, lifting, and subtle erasures. There is something deeply satisfying about watching depth reveal itself in black and white.

Palm trees have always held a special place in my heart, instantly bringing back memories of holidays, warm summer days, and the excitement of discovering new places.

For this piece, I brought together two things I love: charcoal and the palm tree. The result is a study in contrast, memory, and quiet movement.
